Review: Is This Eye Concentrate The Key To A Rejuvenated Eye Area?
[Korean Cosmetic Review] Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Concentrate Matrix Synchronized Multi-Recovery Complex 15ml
If you’re looking to give your tired under eye area a little TLC, you may want to consider eye care products such as the Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Serum Synchronized Complex II or the latest Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Concentrate Matrix. It promises to help your eyes “bounce back” into a more youthful state, among other things.
#TeamClozette Editor and Head of Content Becks Ko is in the same boat – among her concerns are dark circles, fine lines and loss of volume – so she was curious to try and review the newest addition to the famed Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair collection. Read on to discover how it worked for her.
First impressions, claims, and packaging
Like the Advanced Night Repair Serum, the Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Concentrate Matrix features the Chronolux™ Power Signal Technology that claims to stimulate and accelerate cell renewal, as well as smoothen, firm, and brighten the eye zone in four weeks.
As an eye care product, the eye concentrate intrigued her with its claims of “cushioning” the skin in addition to nourishing and hydrating it. It supposedly does so with its 360° Mesh Matrix “Shock Absorber” formulation that uses a polymer matrix and hyaluronic acids to “cushion” the delicate skin around the eyes from the eye's micromovements, like blinking and squinting, that may cause visible signs of ageing over time.
As far as first impressions go, the eye concentrate knocked it out of the park. But will it deliver its promised results?
Usage and application
According to Becks, the Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Concentrate Matrix has a “lotion-like texture that settles like oil”. “It glides on extremely easily but does not absorb as well as I expected for an Advanced Night Repair product.” Due to its rich texture, the eye concentrate takes longer to be fully absorbed. After trying to find the optimal time to apply it, she found that it’s best to use it as part of her evening skincare routine in an air-conditioned room to enjoy its nourishing benefit.
The metal applicator allows for easy swatching, but it’s a little more challenging to use around the eye area.
Despite liking the idea of a cooling metal applicator, Becks found it somewhat challenging to use in reality. “Because of its rounded bulb tip and short length, coupled with its smooth glide, it was rather difficult to control the movement of the applicator and I found it hard to apply the product evenly. The applicator is also quite heavy so it's not ideal for prolonged usage.” Not wanting to give up, she decided to use the built-in applicator of her empty Clarins V Shaping Facial Lift Eye Concentrate, the eye care product she used before this review. The change immediately elevated the experience.
“The instructions did mention to tap in the product with the fingers to round off the step, but I personally prefer to apply the product entirely with an applicator. So after trying it with another applicator, I realised that I really enjoy the moisturising effect that the product leaves on the skin,” Becks said.
Its rich texture provided enough nourishment for Becks’s eye area, so she didn’t feel the need to add any additional products like eye masks or creams into the mix. After using it for three weeks, she’s received compliments from friends on how she doesn’t look as tired despite not wearing foundation or concealer. She also observed brighter under eyes.
Final thoughts
In Becks’ experience, the product delivered on its claims to nourish, hydrate, and brighten the eye area. Though any firming and intense smoothing have yet to be observed, she plans to continue using the eye concentrate after this review.
In terms of pricing, it does cost a pretty penny so it might be better suited for those who are willing to invest. But if you’re a fan of the Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair line like Becks, you may want to consider this as a luxurious skincare treat.
